Belkyra is a Health Canada approved injectable treatment that permanently removes fat cells beneath the chin, giving you a more defined profile without surgery.
What Is Belkyra?
Belkyra is an injectable treatment containing deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the submental area beneath the chin, it destroys the fat cells in that area permanently. Once destroyed, those cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, meaning results are long lasting without the need for ongoing maintenance.
How Belkyra Works
Deoxycholic acid is injected in a series of small injections into the fat beneath the chin during an in-office appointment. The solution disrupts and destroys the fat cell membrane, triggering the body to gradually clear the destroyed cells through its natural processes over the following weeks. As the fat is cleared, the chin and jawline become progressively more defined.

* DOWNTIME: Mild swelling, bruising or numbness in the treated area lasting up to a few weeks is normal and expected

Most patients achieve their desired result in 2 to 4 treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart. We will assess the degree of submental fullness and recommend a realistic plan during your consultation.
Swelling, bruising and temporary numbness in the treated area are normal and expected following Belkyra injections. This is a sign that the treatment is working. Swelling in particular can be significant in the first week and gradually subsides over the following weeks as the fat cells are cleared.
Belkyra is approved for adults with moderate to severe submental fullness. Suitability depends on the degree of fat, skin laxity and your overall health. We will assess all of these during your consultation.
